I would happily share this picture to any family member or members whose family member served in this Battalion in WWl. There are at least 100 men both seated and standing in front of a row of barracks. These men are easily identifiable as the picture is quite clear . You may email me in San Bernardino, Cal.

We are writing letters to President Obama to help you get your WW I memorial built for all the veterans of that war. We are also doing a Reader's Theater play about the war. We wish you all the best. Mr. Buckles, I follow your long life every few months and am pleased that you have survived to see 2010. I turn 60 later this year and hold few hopes to live as long as you. I have, however, served over 40 years in the US Army Reserve and hope to continue that service until I turn 62 on 10-16-2012. May you still be with jus then, as well. I am just so impressed with your story and of the many other Great War veterans I have gotten to know by my reading and research. I am working with a local community to preserve a monument in Baltimore City to the sons of Waverly High School who served. Sadly, the monument has suffered vandalism in the past, but is still magnificent. My girlfriend's grandfather, CPL Zepp, served with the 313th FA from W. Virginia. We have some of his medals and even his gas mask. Again, I wish you the best for the future and an even longer life

Mr. Buckles - I would like to thank you for your will to live. I am a mere 29 years old, born in 1980 - and seeing you on the news prompted me to do research on a war that, even as a child, had so few veterans still alive. If it were not for you, I would likely never have taken an interest in the war that you and only a handful of others lived and still remember, first hand. You have also helped me gain an appreciation for WWII veterans and have sparked an urgent desire to learn as much about that war as possible before they, too, are no longer with us. It would be my privledge and honor to shake your hand. Very Respectfully Yours, David Mathews San Antonio, TX

I am the wife of a Vietnam Vet, so I know the hell war can be for our men, as they relive it over and over again even after they return home. My father was WWII veteran with the 82nd Airborne, and passed a few years ago, but like all our veterans no matter what war they fought, they were proud to serve and protect us and our freedom in this country. I am eternally grateful for that and the freedom we enjoy. Frank thank you again for your many years of service and your bravery and patrioism. God Bless you.

Thank You for serving our country and welcome home. It is because of brave men like you that we enjoy the freedom we have today. Your being the last WW! remaining veteran is a special distinction. I salute you and wish you well. You are owed a debt of gratitude. I am a Vietnam Veteran and I will tell other veterans of my era to see if we can help get a WW1 memorial. Your sacrifice was as great as any of the wars since WW1. God Bless you.

Thank you for your service to our country. I had a WWI veteran as a friend when I lived in a boarding house at age 19. His name was Donald Web from Boston Mass., he was also an ambulance driver in France. His stories fueled my adventurous spirit and led to me joining the Marine Corps in 1965. All of you WWI vets should be honored with a memorial.

My dear Mr Buckkles. My father served in the Army in WW 1. he passed 3 years ago. He told me many stories what you guys did fighting for our country. I was in WW2 in the infantry. You are a good American . Bless you. Thank you for your service to this great country. May God bless you. My son drove me to see WW2 Memorial. We also visited the Marine memorial. It was great . I also believe we should have a WW 1 Memorial.

I've had the honor of meeting a couple of presidents (Clinton and Obama) and Bono, but meeting Frank Buckles overshadows them all. That's a meeting I'll talk about for the rest of my life. He's a national treasure and a true renaissance man. I had the pleasure of being at his home where he has approximately 250,000 books. He's just an amazing person. I thank God for him and wish him a very happy birthday.

This great-grandson of a WWI vet wishes you a happy birthday. For the record, I just added my name to the petition and made a donation to the cause. I really wish it had been "the war to end all wars". Personally, I don't think we'll ever learn... but every day, every minute, is another chance, and it starts with us. You, of course, already know this... just putting it out there for everyone else.
